Adirondack chair favors / place cards

Our dear friend Karen approached James and I regarding her husband's retirement party.

You see they have the cutest YELLOW adirondack chairs on their deck.
They retire there in the evenings to watch the sunset over the lake.

I couldn't resist.

Their invites featured yellow adirondack chairs motif with blue wave board representing the lake. The place cards were miniature yellow adirondack chairs.

When the guests were finished eating they joined together at Karen's house. They really enjoyed seeing their TRUE life size yellow adirondack chairs on the deck.

I truly feel a THEME is necessary for EVERY party. A party without a theme is like a cake without icing. It is just wrong.

When throwing a party or wedding, think about what REPRESENTS YOU or the guest of honor. Incorporate the theme / motif on the invite, favor tags, menus, place cards, table cards, thank you cards, and more!

Isn't making memories fun!

ENJOY.

Party Pom Pom Decorations

From Martha Stewart Weddings

Pom-Poms and Luminarias

Joyous bursts of color dance above a table, imparting a cheerful radiance to a rehearsal dinner or casual reception. The dahlialike pom-poms appear to float in the air; in reality they are hung from the ceiling with monofilament. Echoing the vibrant hanging puffs, pom-pom napkin rings in citrus shades adorn each place setting. Square glass vessels in various sizes line tables. Covered in sunset-hued tissue (cut to size and secured with double-sided tape), they cast a soft glow.

How to Make the Pom-Poms
You'll need tissue paper and 24-gauge white cloth-covered floral wire.

Hanging Pom-Poms
1. Stack eight 20-by-30-inch sheets of tissue. Make 1 1/2-inchwide accordion folds, creasing with each fold.

2. Fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half, and slip over center of folded tissue; twist. With scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes.

3. Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.

4. Tie a length of monofilament to floral wire for hanging.

Napkin Rings
With just a few changes, these follow the same steps as the hanging pom-poms.

1. Stack four sheets of tissue. Cut a 10-by-5-inch rectangle, going through all layers. Make 3/8-inch-wide accordion folds.

2. Fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half, slip over center of tissue, and twist to secure. Trim ends of tissue.

3. Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.

4. Bend wire into a loop to fit around napkin, and twist end around loop to secure.

Dawn Smith Events Shares Gerbera Daisy Inspriation Board

I was thrilled to find Dawn Smith Events Blog this morning featuring my original gerbera daisy artwork + invitation! I loved her inspiration board so much I asked her if I could post to my blog! She kindly obliged.

Following is Dawn's original post (w/ exception of the 1 invite swapped out from another one I offer ::wink wink::)

"I love gerbera daisies; I can't wait until they are in season, then I make sure that I always have fresh ones around. So of course, I think they are perfect for a spring wedding shower or reception.

Get The Party Started
Invite your guests with this original watercolor artwork printed on coverstock with vellum.

The Table's The Thing
Lovin' this eye-popping tabletop of fuschia and orange. I am in love with these apple box centerpieces! Simple and genius; multicolored gerbera daisies in square vases. Big impact with little effort; a simple vase of daises on top of bright colored ribbons that have been woven together.

Bridesmaids carry vibrant bouquets of pink and orange gerbera daisies hand-tied with orange ribbon.

Have Your Cake....
Of course I had to show some cupcakes; fabulousness a la Pink Cake Box. Simple adornments are classic on this perfect white cake.

Send Them Home With A Smile
The packaging is as special as your gift with these favor boxes."

THANK YOU AGAIN DAWN! I truly look forward to your future posts.

How to Word Gifts on an Invitation

The question is often asked here at My Personal Artist, "How do I word we want money for our wedding gift?" or "How do we word we do not want any wedding gifts?"

In my opinion and that of many guests (trust me they have called us!) it is NOT proper to print such details on a wedding invitation. Nor is it proper to do so on an alternative card that will be mailed with your wedding invitation.

On your bridal shower invitation, that is a different story. The person giving the party is allowed to give their guests gift ideas FOR YOU! That is fantastic. Your guests should remember where you are registered for your wedding day then. Parents, Grandparents, Aunts and bridesmaids can verbally tell the guests gift ideas when asked. If you still feel your guests do not know what to give you on your special day tell a vociferous relative and they will certainly get the word out for you!

Another popular idea is to include your wedding website on your alternative card this way your guests will go to your website and see your personal REGISTRY link there. Many of our couples we have worked with do this. TheKnot.com offers free wedding websites for you to enjoy!

Remember, during these tough economic times guests certainly don't want to be told how to spend their money. Let's get back to the basics and enjoy each others company and the simple things in life, like LOVE.
